MendEra for Wound Care

Intended Use

MendEra is intended for homologous use as a protective covering for acute and chronic wounds. The product is applied topically by qualified healthcare professionals. The graft size is determined by the treating physician and is dependent upon the size and characteristics of the wound.

MendEra is a prescription-only, sterile, dehydrated dual-layer human amniotic membrane allograft derived from donated human placental tissue. The graft is minimally processed, dehydrated, and terminally sterilized using low-dose gamma irradiation. MendEra is supplied in a sterile dual-pouch barrier system and is intended for single-patient use.

The amniotic membrane functions as an extracellular matrix sheet (graft) that is applied topically as a wound covering or protective barrier.

Chronic Wounds

Chronic wounds such as diabetic or venous ulcers can present a clinical challenge with prolonged inflammation, increased infections risk, and limited capabilities for tissue regeneration. These wounds fail to progress appropriately through the 4 stages of wound healing (hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and maturation) and usually require advanced approaches to help support tissue integrity. Amniotic membrane grafts have emerged as an innovative option within the advanced wound care space. Upon application, the graft serves as a protective covering that helps maintain a moist, breathable wound environment, while also assisting in reducing discomfort and minimizing fluid loss from the affected tissue.
